Job Title: Associate Deputy Commissioner

The Associate Deputy Commissioner will be a key member of the executive leadership team at NYCDOT, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of New York City's roadways. This role will oversee the implementation of key Agency initiatives, including the Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic deaths. The Associate Deputy Commissioner will have oversight of managing 13,500+ signalized intersections, 330,000+ street lights, and the Traffic Management Center. This position will also manage a 10-year capital program valued at over $1B and an annual operating budget of $190M, including $60M+ for the Traffic Management Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of New York City's roadways
  • Implement key Agency initiatives, including Vision Zero
  • Manage 13,500+ signalized intersections and 330,000+ street lights
  • Oversee the Traffic Management Center
  • Manage a 10-year capital program valued at over $1B and an annual operating budget of $190M
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • 4 years of satisfactory experience in an administrative, managerial, consultative, or executive capacity
  • At least 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive, consultative, or supervisory capacity
Preferred Skills:
  • Professional Engineer or extensive experience in traffic engineering
  • Significant experience overseeing development and maintenance of an extensive traffic control system
  • Previous experience developing the design, engineering support/review, and quality control of multi-million dollar traffic capital projects
  • Proven ability to implement strategic traffic engineering initiatives that promote multi-modal mobility in a large urban setting
