Job Summary:
This role operates in a fast-paced environment for a leading national distributor of foodservice equipment and supplies. The Credit Assistant is responsible for accurately and timely setting up new accounts and determining credit worthiness for new accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews credit applications and new account set-up sheets for accuracy and completeness
- Verifies credit worthiness with credit bureaus and references
- Analyzes credit applications and provides recommendations
- Approves new customer credit limits up to $5,000
- Prepares credit file for Credit Manager for credit limits greater than $5,000
- Establishes customer master file in EDDON 1 system
- Notifies sales representative of credit terms and conditions
- Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and internal and external customers
- Establishes customer accounts for new and existing Multi-Unit customers
- Follows up with staff to update credit files on exiting customers
- Maintains department customer files in an orderly manner
- Keeps the Credit Manager informed of issues within the areas of assigned responsibility
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent with 1-2 years of similar Credit/Collections experience in a high volume (B2B) distribution environment
- Ability to adhere to processes, policies, and procedures as outlined by Management
- Exposure to automated A/R software with an Intermediate level understanding
- Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage time lines, and work independently or collaboratively to accomplish organizational objectives
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to analyze data and draw educated conclusions
- The ability to effectively coordinate and manage projects from inception through completion
- Excellent oral and written business communication skills
- Ability to foster strong, open lines of communication across all levels of the organization
