The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring the assigned site maintains an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position plays a crucial role in the FLACS family, working to guarantee the readiness of FLACS schools under the supervision of the building's Principal, Head Custodians, and Network Supervisor who will provide an annual evaluation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment while adhering to maximum safety procedures.
  • Move books, files, boxes, furniture, etc.
  • Clean and sterilize all high-use areas to reduce the spread of bacteria and any other harmful agents.
  • Travel to nearby schools or warehouse/storage as required.
  • Perform maintenance of the building, such as drywall repairs; minor carpentry; classroom furniture; replacing light bulbs, & fixtures; painting projects; ceiling tile replacement; playground maintenance, athletic areas, grounds repairs; equipment audits, building inspections; safety issues, repairs; small landscaping projects; additional items as they arise.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.
  • Maintain exterior of the sites, including snow/ice removal, trash removal, etc. as needed.
  • Carry a handheld radio at all times while on school property if assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies.
  • Report and assist with all emergencies as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school graduate required with continuing education or facilities related preferred but not required.
  • Very good physical condition and strength. Has the ability to lift 35+ lbs.
  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
  • Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or in a similar role.
  • Nurturing spirit and welcoming personality.
  • Has a valid Driver's License (preferred).
  • NYS fingerprint clearance required.

Estimated Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 per year.
