Job Summary

The City of Cape Coral, FL is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Contract Lead Preschool Teacher/Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation Department, you will be responsible for providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and implement recreational programs for children, ensuring a developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of participants, maintaining a clean and organized facility.
  • Handle cash transactions, process registrations, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and other stakeholders, providing excellent customer service.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, using approved curricula and teaching methods.
  • Observe, record, and document children's progress, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent certification required.
  • Emergent Literacy for VPK Instructor course completion required.
  • 40-hour training in Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) guidelines required.
  • Two years or more of experience in a child-related field preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of hire/promotion.
  • Ability to work 10 additional hours yearly for in-service training.
Working Conditions

This position involves light physical demands, including exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Tasks may require prolonged periods of visual concentration and moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

This position does not include benefits.
