Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic/Boiler Operator will be responsible for the daily operation of the boiler, including taking hourly readings, performing boiler water analysis, and startup and shutdown of the boilers. This role will also involve troubleshooting, diagnosing, assembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and systems related to automated and manual production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily operation of the boiler, including taking hourly readings and performing boiler water analysis
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and machinery issues
  • Assembling, repairing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and systems
  • Performing hands-on major and minor repairs and maintenance of material handling equipment
  • Coordinating and participating in preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities
  • Operating and using manual tools and powered-shop machinery and tools
  • Repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and knowledge of mechanical operations for motor-driven equipment
  • Identifying and locating sources of problems and correcting and solving maintenance issues
  • Maintaining equipment, parts, tools, and supplies inventories in the maintenance shop
  • Continually maintaining a safe working operation
Qualifications
  • Active Massachusetts 2nd Class fireman's license or above
  • Hands-on maintenance experience
  • Strong mechanical background and equipment troubleshooting experience
  • Technical, vocational, or trade school education is a plus
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills and technical aptitude
  • Prior diagnostic, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance (PM) experience preferred
  • Familiarity with various hand and electric tools
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work-related tasks and special projects
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English for purposes of performing necessary job duties
  • Detail-oriented and ability to meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills required
  • Ability to work safely by following all maintenance department's standard operating procedures
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment
