The Cybersecurity Risk Management Specialist will collaborate with the security team, program, and government stakeholders to function as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO).



Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily information system security operations, including the implementation of hardware and software solutions.
  • Execute technical management of information systems in alignment with internal security protocols and customer security mandates, focusing on the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Conduct audits of information systems to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to network and security incidents.
  • Document compliance activities within the designated automated compliance tracking system or create a plan of actions and milestones (POA&M) with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to rectify noncompliance within the specified timeframe.
  • Ensure that systems are operated, maintained, and decommissioned in accordance with internal security policies and practices as outlined in the security plan.
  • Maintain and document configuration management (CM) for security-relevant IS software, hardware, and firmware in accordance with established baselines.
  • Ensure all documentation related to information system security is current and accessible to authorized personnel.
  • Maintain records for workstations, software, servers, routers, firewalls, network switches, telephony equipment, etc., throughout the information system's lifecycle.
  • Assess proposed modifications or additions to the information system and advise the ISSM on their security implications.
  • Assist in conducting security education for information systems.
  • Participate in internal and external security audits and inspections; perform risk assessments.
  • Ensure appropriate protective measures or corrective actions are implemented when an incident or vulnerability is identified.
  • Communicate, implement, and manage a formal Information Security / Information Systems Security Program in collaboration with the ISSM and Program Security Representative, and assist with investigations.
  • Enforce Information Security Policies and Procedures in conjunction with the ISSM and PSR.
  • Review and oversee RMF Package authorizations alongside the ISSM.
  • Support the development and execution of Agile methodologies, including the creation of processes, templates, artifacts, and metrics.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification or the ability to secure it within six months of hire.
  • Familiarity with operating system security requirements.
  • Experience with industry-standard Information Assurance tools such as Splunk, SCAP, and Nessus.
  • Understanding of Agile Methodologies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Scrum methodologies, capable of prioritizing scrum team issues based on urgency, impact, and risk.
  • Background in Information System auditing.
  • Familiarity with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM).
  • Knowledge of Committee on National Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI) 1253, NIST SP Risk Management Framework (RMF), and/or NIST SP Security and Privacy Controls requirements.
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining RMF artifacts.
  • Proficiency in obtaining and maintaining system Authorizations to Operate (ATOs).
  • Experience in implementing new and complex technologies across multiple classification levels within large enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile development tools such as Jira.
