Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ED Clerical Supervisor to join our team at ChristianaCare. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, supervising, and coordinating caregivers in Emergency Department Registration to ensure an efficient and accurate registration/throughput process while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations and fiscal responsibilities of ED Registration, including accurate check-in, check-out, information capture, and revenue collection.
  • Provide leadership support to the team while completing registration functions as needed to assist during peak volumes.
  • Create and manage caregiver schedules to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Responsible for recommending budget items and requisitioning approved supplies.
  • Responsible for evaluating caregiver performance and recommending merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Responsible for hiring new caregivers and developing a successful onboarding/orientation process.
  • Maintain electronic timecards and payroll approval responsibilities.
  • Ensure office space, supplies, and equipment are maintained appropriately.
  • Ensure business functions are operative, effective, and efficient while meeting regulatory and policy standards.
  • Review business processes and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in healthcare or business, or 4 years' experience in a business/healthcare administrative environment.
  • Four years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting is required. Hospital experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and functionality with a computerized registration and scheduling system, preferably Powerchart and Soarian.
  • Basic computer skills that include word and excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Staffing and shift coverage experience.
  • Advanced customer service skills demonstrating professional conduct and courtesy.
  • In-depth knowledge of third-party payers and understanding of the pre-certification process.

  • Maintains professional attitude at all times.
  • Possesses and implements excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, analytic, organizational, and negotiating skills.
Special Requirements
  • Works a minimum of 40 hours per week, primarily day shift during business hours with the expectation to flex time to meet with caregivers on opposite shifts or cover during a critical staffing need.
