Job Title: Senior Director of Nursing and Inpatient Programs

Villa of Hope is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Nursing and Inpatient Programs to lead our nursing teams at Living Hope Treatment Center, Tuckahoe Community Residence, LIFE House, Villa of Hope School, and Outpatient Clinics.

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Chief Program Officer, the Senior Director of Nursing and Inpatient Programs is responsible for providing strategic and operational supervision and leadership to the Health Services nursing teams. This includes developing and implementing nursing policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate a culture of integrated Sanctuary Model and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in all aspects of nursing practice.
  • Develop and update nursing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Schedule nursing staff to ensure adequate coverage across all assigned programs and locations.
  • Provide medical program oversight, including supervising staff in care of clients with medical issues and medication administration.
  • Oversee staffing needs, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff.
  • Ensure adherence to NYS and federal medical policy for all nurses to provide safe and competent care.
  • Facilitate and track CPR/First Aid certification and Narcan training for nursing staff.
  • Ensure adherence to all OMH, OASAS, NYSED, DOH, BNE, and COA regulations by all nursing staff.
  • Approve payroll and vacation time for nursing staff.
  • Follow professional nursing standards and recommendations of the Villa pediatrician, psychiatrist, and other medical professionals regarding client care.
  • Assist the Chief Program Officer in building a strong infrastructure to support agency strategic goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership to the nursing team in carrying out the strategic plan.
  • Review nursing reports and documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Meet with nursing staff at least every two weeks for supervision.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and staff development opportunities.
  • Represent the Agency in the pharmacy relationship to ensure clients' prescription needs are met.
  • Consult and collaborate with program directors, staff nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and physicians/psychiatrists to promote a collaborative and person-centered approach to client care.
  • Ensure the maintenance of medical-related contracts, credentials, and licenses.
  • Oversee nursing schedules and ensure adequate coverage; cover shifts as needed.
  • Exercise full compliance with the Agency's Code of Conduct and all Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security for all client and staff-related materials and/or records.
  • Occasional driving of clients to medical appointments.
Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Registered Nurse license in New York State (license needs to be unencumbered).

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse; preferred minimum 3-5 years nurse leadership experience. A minimum of one year of experience in the nursing care and treatment of behavioral health and related illnesses preferred.

Skills: Leadership; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, proficiency in trauma-informed care, and skilled in staffing relationship development and problem-solving. Valid NYS driver's license.

Physical Demands:

Standing/Walking: Standing and walking is required for the majority of time spent on campus. Nurses must be able to walk around campus throughout shift (including hills, stairs, and inclement weather conditions)

Lifting: Regular lifting of medical supplies, medications, patient supplies, and patient charts, all weighing up to twenty pounds is required.

Bending: Bending is required when administering patient care. One must be able to bend to touch the floor to remove environmental hazards.

Squatting/Kneeling: Squatting or kneeling is required when operating medical equipment and performing aspects of patient care, such as CPR or TCI.

Travel: Occasional driving of clients to medical appointments.
