Position Overview
The University of Central Florida (UCF) is excited to announce an opportunity within its interdisciplinary Renewable Energy and Chemical Transformations (REACT) cluster. We are inviting applications for the role of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured), depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
This 9-month faculty position aims to enhance our existing capabilities in catalysis science and engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in areas such as:
- Ab initio theory
- Ultrafast and electron spectroscopies
- Nanocatalyst synthesis
- Homogeneous and electrocatalysis
- Heterogeneous catalysis
- Catalytic synthesis of fuels
- Plasmonic catalysis
- Wastewater remediation catalysts
Faculty members in this role will play a crucial part in bolstering both the research cluster and their respective tenure home departments, which may include physics, chemistry, or materials science and engineering. The position offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship, aimed at fostering a broad intellectual environment and enhancing the cluster's success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering, or a related discipline.
- A proven track record of securing competitive research funding.
- Demonstrated leadership in research and strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a similar academic role:
- Assistant Professor: Minimum of two (2) years.
- Associate Professor: Minimum of five (5) years.
- A record of teaching, research, and service that aligns with the expectations of the tenure department.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in high-level research:
- Assistant Professor: Four (4) years.
- Associate Professor: Six (6) years.
- A strong publication record demonstrating impactful contributions to the field.
