Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Athletics Communications Coordinator to join our team at CoSIDA. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of our public relations staff, responsible for coordinating communication efforts for our athletics programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Primary Public Relations Lead: Serve as the primary public relations lead for our men's and women's cross country, track & field, swimming, and triathlon programs.
  • Media Relations: Prepare, maintain, and distribute media information, as well as other publicity for assigned programs.
  • Content Creation: Produce content for distribution to media outlets, and across our social media accounts, including recaps, previews, press releases, graphics, digital, and social media.
  • Student-Athlete Media Appearances: Coordinate student-athlete media appearances for assigned programs.
  • Media Outreach: Pitch story ideas to local, regional, and national media.
  • Digital Media: Provide support to our department's digital (video) efforts, including features, and assist with live broadcast production of home sporting events.
  • Communication Strategy: Work closely with all broadcast partners to provide accurate information on teams.
  • Honors and Awards: Nominate and promote honors and awards for student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
  • Event Support: Provide support for select athletics events not part of assigned sports.
  • Secondary Contact: Serve as the secondary contact for a select revenue sport.
  • Live Event Coverage: Live state of our games and events.
  • Media Relations: Develop a positive relationship with all media outlets and provide services to radio and TV personalities.
  • Compliance: Comply with all CoSIDA, Horizon League, and NCAA regulations.
Occasional Duties
  • Travel: Travel to select away contests, including all Horizon League Championships and NCAA Tournament games, may be required.
  • Reporting: Report to NCAA, National Coaches Associations, and the Horizon League for weekly updates on statistics and conference awards for each program.
  • Marketing and Promotions: Coordinate with marketing, ticketing, and promotions to aid in ticket sales.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least one year of experience as a student intern in an athletics communication's office.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Initiative and Creativity: Position requires considerable initiative, creativity, and independence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Two to three years of experience with as an intern or student worker in athletics communications at a NCAA institution (either NCAA Division I, II, or III).
