Position Overview: The Production Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing, organizing, and managing the production processes across different lines to ensure that products are manufactured safely and meet quality standards. This role involves supervising production associates to fulfill production goals and maintain operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the production team to optimize labor utilization.
- Create and monitor work schedules, tracking employee attendance and performance.
- Review and approve employee time records and generate daily production reports.
- Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance staff.
- Ensure optimal line speeds, effective staffing, and high yield rates.
- Account for variances and report on staffing, morale, and procedural issues to management.
- Facilitate necessary training to enhance productivity, safety, and employee development.
- Champion safety initiatives and conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
- Provide constructive feedback on employee performance and prepare reports for upper management.
Additional Duties:
- Verify compliance with HACCP documentation.
- Maintain attendance records and review payroll.
- Conduct inventory checks and behavior audits.
- Manage data on production control boards.
- Ensure fair and consistent recognition and discipline of team members.
- Guarantee that all products meet USDA and company specifications.
Qualifications:
- Proficient understanding of Plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Familiarity with USDA policies and regulations.
- Basic mathematical and writing skills.
- Ability to remain optimistic in high-pressure situations.
- Previous leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to enhance them further.
- Competence in using computers for communication and data analysis.
- Capability to manage operations within the production department.
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of two years in a poultry processing environment.
Working Environment: This role involves spending approximately 70% of the time in a manufacturing setting, which may be cold and wet, and 30% in a controlled office environment.
