Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substitute Middle School Teacher to join our team at Greensboro Day School. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing continuity of instruction for students in Grades 5-8 when a teacher is absent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction
    • Teach 4-5 sections of an academic subject, including core subjects such as mathematics, language arts, and science.
    • Coach an academic team (if teaching 4 sections) to promote teamwork and collaboration among students.
    • Facilitate a regular study hall every other day to support students in their academic endeavors.
  • Student Support and Guidance
    • Advise 12-18 students during the dedicated advisory period to provide guidance and support in their academic and personal development.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Classroom Management and Safety
    • Manage the classroom with safety and security as the top priority, ensuring the well-being of all students and staff.
    • Complete non-academic tasks as necessary, such as break duty, lunch duty, and carpool responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a strong background in education or a related field.
    • Classroom experience preferred, with a proven track record of success in teaching and instructional leadership.
