Interim Payroll Manager

**Job Overview**
Boston Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to join their team. As a key member of the payroll department, you will be responsible for supervising daily operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all payroll cycles, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
**About the Role**
We are offering a competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including flexible schedules, affordable health insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, and Tuition Reimbursement.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Supervise daily payroll operations, planning, organizing, and delegating work schedules and assignments in accordance with department goals and deadlines.
* Maintain policies and procedures, assist with process improvement initiatives, communicate changes to staff, and provide feedback to management on team members' performance.
* Support timely and accurate payment processing by reviewing pay cycles, adjustments, and master file updates to the payroll system.
* Ensure all voluntary and involuntary deductions are taken and accounted for throughout the payroll life cycle.
* Process bi-weekly time entry, ensure time records are approved within deadlines, reconcile pay period results, and resolve time record issues.
* Schedule G/L interface of pay cycle transactions, research and correct error records.
* Generate Leaves of Absence reports, record available balances, identify labor charge accounts and special pay requests, and create pay sheets for LOA pay or benefit back charge transactions.
* Support year-end bonus payments, executive compensation payouts, and other year-end activities impacting employees.
* Ensure compliance with hospital personnel, payroll, and benefit policies.
* Maintain tax information for employees and the hospital in accordance with IRS code and filing requirements.
* Support reconciliation of payroll tax-related processing and filing quarterly and calendar year-end tax returns.
* Oversee customer service initiatives by fostering a culture of responsiveness and professionalism through empathy and knowledge of payroll.
* Work with payroll staff to review time exceptions, input corrections, and balance and process transactions in the payroll system.
* Review staff schedules with management to ensure adequate coverage.
* Monitor work for efficiency, effectiveness, and quality, including conducting audits as requested by management.
* Provide feedback to management on team members' performance, goal achievement, deliverables, and competency assessments.
