Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Registration Specialist to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a key member of our patient access team, you will be responsible for registering patients in multiple service lines, ensuring accurate and timely collection of demographic, financial, and clinical information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients and confirm demographic data on registration systems, avoiding overlays and duplicate patient records.
  • Follow procedures for patient identification and registration during downtime, entering data into registration systems immediately upon system availability.
  • Obtain and explain insurance cards, forms of ID, and signature(s) on required forms, verifying information on accounts to determine insurance coordination of benefits.
  • Screen for and process non-covered services and waiver of liability (ABN) through automated screening at time of service.
  • Inform self-pay patients of liability due, prepayment requirements, and coordinate screening of alternate funding sources if applicable.
  • Collect patient payments and provide accurate receipts, posting payments in system and reconciling receipts with cash collected.
  • Document patient account notes for all interactions/transactions and maintain departmental and/or individual work queues and reports as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to interact with others, operate computers and office equipment, see and read computer monitors and documents, and remain sitting or standing for long periods of time.
