Position Overview:
We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Senior Estimator with a robust background in the construction sector, particularly in drywall, framing, and finishing. This position requires an individual who can effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting while focusing on maximizing profitability. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong leadership abilities and a commitment to teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate construction costs for various elements including framing, drywall, ceilings, and finishes for commercial projects.
- Guide and mentor new members of the estimating team to foster their professional growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors to gather pricing and supply information.
- Conduct research and analysis on construction and material costs, as well as market trends that influence pricing.
- Utilize the company's ERP system for documentation and project tracking.
- Collaborate with Project Managers during the pre-construction phase to review designs and construction plans.
- Work closely with colleagues and external partners to prepare project-related documentation.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with clients, colleagues, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Review contract language and ensure all concerns are documented for management review.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and scopes for contract assessments.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and quality throughout the organization.
- Participate in all necessary training programs and company events.
- Engage in job site and office meetings as required.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating within the construction industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and project scheduling.
- In-depth knowledge of project scopes and specifications.
- Proficiency in interpreting contracts, drawings, and schedules.
- Ability to mentor and develop team members in estimating practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
