Position Summary:

As a Civil Engineer at QUES, you will play a pivotal role in the engineering, procurement, and construction of vital infrastructure projects within the electric power and communication sectors. Your expertise will be essential in managing projects that range from simple installations to complex, multi-state undertakings, all while ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide project staff in construction, operations, and maintenance tasks at designated sites.
  • Provide expert consultation to stakeholders and management regarding engineering specifications for various designs and structural modifications.
  • Utilize design software and drafting tools to accurately communicate project designs and related systems.
  • Evaluate the integrity of materials such as concrete, asphalt, and steel through rigorous testing.
  • Establish design criteria by analyzing parameters like grade requirements, accessibility, and traffic flow.
  • Plan and execute projects based on comprehensive analyses of drawings, survey reports, and geological data.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project-related topics, including environmental impacts and right-of-way considerations.
  • Estimate necessary materials, equipment, and labor to accurately project costs.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors to ensure seamless project progression.
  • Work closely with surveyors to establish critical reference points and grades affecting construction.
  • Monitor project timelines and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct inspections and perform maintenance on completed projects as required.
  • Execute additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Recent experience in power transmission, distribution, telecom, and solar development projects.
  • Proficient in site planning, grading, utilities design, feasibility studies, and contract management.
  • Skilled in using AutoCAD, StormCAD, and other design and data analysis software.
  • Comprehensive understanding of utility infrastructure, site design, and traffic control regulations.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Strong grasp of safety regulations pertinent to engineering projects.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.

Education and Credentials:

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California is mandatory.
