Job Summary

SERV Behavioral Health System is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will provide therapeutic residential support to youths with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a group home setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Orient newly admitted clients and facilitate their transition into the group home environment
  • Plan, lead, and supervise client activities to promote socialization, skill-building, and personal growth
  • Provide positive behavioral supports and direct supervision to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Facilitate community integration through recreational activities and outings
  • Provide pre-vocational skills training and support clients in achieving their goals
  • Collect and record data, and complete all required documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Provide transportation and accompany clients to and from appointments as needed
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field unrelated to social work/psychology and six (6) months' experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for children and adolescents and their families
