Residential Counselor

SERV Behavioral Health System is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will provide therapeutic residential support to youths with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a group home setting.

• Orient newly admitted clients and provide a smooth transition into our care
• Plan, lead, and supervise client activities to promote socialization and skill-building
• Provide positive behavioral supports on a daily basis to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Assist with daily living activities and provide direct supervision in a group home setting
• Contribute to assessments, conferences, and treatment planning to ensure individualized care
• Facilitate community integration through focused recreational activities and outings
• Provide pre-vocational skills training as needed to support clients' independence
• Collect and record data, and complete all required documentation to ensure accurate reporting
• Provide transportation as needed and accompany clients to and from appointments

• High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field unrelated to social work/psychology and six (6) months' experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Valid unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to demonstrate respect for children and adolescents and their families
