Job Title: Director of Dental Insurance Strategy

The Director of Dental Insurance Strategy is a key leadership position responsible for driving the strategic growth of commercial insurance participation at the NYU College of Dentistry. This role is pivotal in attracting new patients to the College, strengthening the institution's presence as a leading provider of comprehensive dental care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement innovative self-pay payment strategies to provide patients with flexible and affordable options to support their oral health needs.
  • Direct and coordinate commercial insurance goals, objectives, and contract language, pricing, and negotiation strategy.
  • Secure optimal reimbursement and protect the interests of NYU Dentistry in contract negotiations and the implementation and management of commercial insurance and managed care contracts.
  • Collaborate and communicate with commercial insurance and managed care companies and key internal stakeholders within NYU Dentistry.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a complex healthcare environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specific experience and a strong track record in developing strategy to address market issues in oral care.
  • Experience with managed care and commercial insurance, including managed care contracting and reimbursement analysis in either a provider or payer setting.
  • Experience with budget and staff management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible professional level experience developing and directing revenue operations, including policies and systems, and automated billing systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of provider contracting, including complex reimbursement terms, adjudication rules, and trends in public and private payor policies.
  • Extensive experience with the full range of provider organizations, in all areas of the country, with all major payors.
  • Highly sophisticated analytic methodologies, including modeling of contract performance to identify underperforming contracts and services within each contract.
