Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified candidate for the role of SYEP Bilingual. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting both the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and the Work, Learn, and Grow Program (WLG). This position is responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for program participants aged 16-21 and serves as the primary point of contact for both work site employers and participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professional Representation: Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor that reflects the high standards of QCH and the programs you represent.
- Site Assessments: Conduct pre-assessments of work sites prior to participant placements to ensure suitability and safety.
- Participant Enrollment: Assist with participant enrollment, including the collection of required documentation.
- Work Site Monitoring: Conduct weekly site visits to monitor participant progress, ensure a safe and productive environment, and maintain employer satisfaction. Document these visits through written assessments.
- Time Sheet Management: Collect and verify weekly time sheets, evaluations, and job placement referrals from participants.
- File Audits: Conduct thorough audits of participant and work site files to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Relationship Building: Develop strong, professional relationships with Work Site Supervisors and SYEP participants.
- Issue Resolution: Assist in resolving any issues or concerns at work sites, escalating to the immediate supervisor as necessary.
- Accuracy and Compliance: Triple-check time sheets and documentation to ensure accuracy and completion, maintaining well-documented client records and program statistics.
- Workshop Participation: Co-facilitate workshops as part of the program's educational component.
- Program Support: Assist with overall SYEP operations, including the preparation of close-out packages and audits.
- Training and Development: Attend all job-related training sessions and workshops.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Customer Service: Demonstrated commitment to customer service, with the ability to build productive relationships, resolve complex issues, and foster loyalty.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly regarding paperwork; ability to meet all deadlines in a timely fashion.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Role Model: Ability to relate to young people and staff as a positive adult role model.
- Flexibility: Comfortable taking initiative and working both independently and as part of a team.
- Cultural Competency: Appreciation for and sensitivity to the cultural heritage, traditions, life experiences, sexual orientation, and gender identity of participants.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with various computer programs and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
- Mobility: Ability to travel between various worksites within the boroughs using public transportation.
- Clearances: Must pass NYS DOH Fingerprinting Screening, NYS Clearance Review Background Check, 3 Reference Checks, and a physical examination with an updated TB test.
Additional Details:
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, with varying hours; weekend availability required as needed.
