Position Summary:
Argo Group US is seeking a dedicated Senior Underwriter to engage in the underwriting, marketing, and processing of our private commercial line of business. This role also encompasses involvement in special projects and mentoring junior staff. This professional-level position is integral to Argo Pro and offers remote work options, with a preference for candidates located in the Western US.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and underwrite new business and renewal applications for our private commercial line.
  • Support marketing initiatives and ensure consistent communication of our offerings to retail and wholesale brokers.
  • Enhance existing broker relationships and cultivate new connections in targeted areas to drive business growth.
  • Engage actively in meetings with clients and brokers.
  • Maintain a robust submission pipeline to meet production and business mix goals.
  • Leverage market contacts to generate business, gather insights, and promote Argo Pro and other Argo Group products.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A strong commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Preferred qualifications include prior insurance educational experience and designations such as IIA and CPCU.
  • A minimum of five years of underwriting experience with authority, ideally in excess and surplus lines.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for exceeding customer expectations in every interaction.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with professional liability specialist brokers in the Central U.S. market.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a changing environment are essential for success.
  • A focus on execution and delivering results consistently.
  • Proficient in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information to underwrite accounts profitably.
  • Advanced skills in computer applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.
Compensation:
The salary range provided is specific to Colorado-based hires and will be commensurate with experience. Pay scales for candidates in other locations may vary based on local labor costs. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on both company and individual performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
