Rivet Operations Company LLC is seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Specialist to enhance our dynamic team in Norfolk, Virginia. This role is pivotal in supporting the Military Sealift Command (MSC) through comprehensive building maintenance services. Rivet is recognized as a premier partner to the Department of Defense (DoD), excelling in physical and cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, removals, and disposals for facilities.
- Manage tools, inventory, and job tracking efficiently.
- Perform thorough inspections of buildings and facilities.
- Provide material estimates and procure items necessary for maintenance and repairs.
- Execute repair and maintenance tasks safely and effectively, utilizing safety equipment as required.
- Deliver maintenance services across various areas including plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, HVAC, minor landscaping, electrical systems, and machinery.
- Oversee general repairs or replacements of window treatments, door hardware, wall structures, decking, stairs, and flooring.
- Prepare facilities for inclement weather and secure tie-downs.
- Manage furniture repairs, upkeep, and relocations, including appliances.
- Control and remove vegetation as necessary.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, roofing, and welding.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements, which reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Education / Experience / Certifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Required to successfully obtain and maintain necessary background investigations and clearances.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in general labor or facilities maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
- Experience in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC maintenance is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
This position may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Candidates must possess sufficient mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily tasks efficiently. Walking moderate to long distances may be necessary due to parking availability and work location. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. may be required.
