Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sanitation Operations Leader is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within the bakery premises, both inside and out. This role serves as a vital support to the sanitation team and management during absences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assign daily tasks to sanitation team leaders

· Collaborate with the sanitation manager to develop work schedules

· Assist in the updating of all sanitation standards and daily task assignments

· Oversee the execution of all cleaning protocols, including allergen management

· Liaise with external waste management services for waste and recycling operations

· Generate and submit purchase orders for necessary supplies

· Negotiate pricing with suppliers as required

· Monitor and verify chemical usage and safety protocols throughout the facility

· Ensure all sanitation staff are trained in proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and chemical handling

· Conduct annual training for sanitation porters and leaders

· Facilitate safety meetings with sanitation staff and production teams

· Assist in the recruitment process for sanitation personnel

· Confirm daily task assignments for sanitation porters

· Validate completion of all cleaning assignments

· Maintain accurate records of sanitation equipment and safety data sheets

· Report waste management statistics to the appropriate personnel

· Support pest control initiatives by participating in inspections and maintaining logs

· Input maintenance requests as necessary

· Engage in sanitation meetings with maintenance, quality assurance, and production teams to identify improvement opportunities

· Participate in weekly operational discussions and facility inspections

· Review inventory levels on a weekly basis

· Assist quality assurance with pre-operation checks

· Ensure compliance with PPE usage and good manufacturing practices (GMP)

WINTER RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Oversee snow removal operations as required


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to lift 50 – 80 lbs of waste materials.
  • Capable of working in warm (up to 100°F) and dusty conditions.
  • Comfortable working in cold environments (below 40°F).
  • Demonstrates reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexible availability to work various shifts.
  • Ability to work at heights of 20 to 30 feet using lifts or ladders.
  • Proficient in completing documentation for all tasks performed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Perform all essential non-management functions during emergencies or staff shortages. Uphold and enforce company policies and standards consistently. Provide support to management by attending meetings and offering insights regarding operational challenges. Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the sanitation manager.
