Job OverviewPosition Summary

Company Background: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) specializes in automated software testing, data analytics, and cybersecurity solutions tailored for complex, mission-critical systems within the US Department of Defense (DOD). We are currently looking for a Systems Integration Engineer to join our team.

Role Description: The Systems Integration Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, deployment, and maintenance of both Linux and Windows-based computing environments. These systems are essential for supporting the virtualized testing of advanced Naval tactical systems. The position involves collaboration with the Advanced Capabilities team, providing infrastructure support for testing and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with technical teams across various organizations in a cooperative environment.
  • Conduct requirements analysis to translate business needs into IT resource specifications.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation.
  • Provision virtual servers and desktops according to client specifications.
  • Offer direct technical support for planning, designing, and implementing upgrades and changes to server storage and virtualization systems.
  • Enhance administrative and operational processes.
  • Manage and oversee hypervisors, automation software, and enterprise virtual systems and networks using various management tools.
  • Perform capacity planning, workload modeling, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal performance of virtualization environments.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related Engineering field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant technology sector.

Essential Skills:
  • Experience with physical server installation and administration.
  • Proficiency in managing and configuring Server-based or Workstation-based Operating Systems (Windows Workstation, Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu).
  • Familiarity with virtualization infrastructure, particularly VMware or similar tools.
  • Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, and VLANs.
  • Experience with various protocols and tools such as NFS, iSCSI, FTP, SSH, and LDAP.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple projects in an agile work setting.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying technical details within small teams.
  • Capability to document technical approaches and designs effectively.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in troubleshooting both software and hardware issues.
  • Expertise in enterprise system engineering with at least one operating system.
  • Experience with RHEL Systems configuration and management.
  • Networking protocol troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of physical server configuration and cabling.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or C shell.
  • Familiarity with Dell or Supermicro Servers and Cisco Switching.
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Powershell, or Python is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications in VMware, Red Hat, or Cisco are encouraged.
  • Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIG or Risk Management Framework is a plus.
