Your role will encompass drafting specifications for new machinery, cultivating vendor partnerships, managing the bidding process, and providing insightful recommendations to guarantee effective project delivery.
Core Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
Oversee and direct mechanical engineering tasks for upgrader and TAR projects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure adherence to project timelines.
Commissioning and Start-Up Expertise:
Utilize commissioning and start-up expertise to facilitate seamless equipment integration.
Identify and resolve challenges during the start-up phase.
Equipment Oversight:
Engage with machinery including chutes, screeners, and conveyor systems to optimize operational performance.
Evaluate and suggest enhancements or modifications to boost efficiency.
Specification Development:
Create comprehensive specifications for new machinery in alignment with project needs.
Ensure specifications comply with industry benchmarks and project objectives.
Vendor and Bid Oversight:
Foster relationships with equipment suppliers and vendors.
Manage the bidding process, including the issuance of requests for proposals (RFPs) and bid evaluations.
Provide recommendations based on cost-effectiveness, quality, and equipment suitability.
Documentation and Reporting:
Compile and maintain precise documentation for equipment specifications, vendor contracts, and project advancements.
Deliver regular updates and reports to stakeholders involved in the project.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all engineering practices adhere to safety standards and industry regulations.
Implement best practices for equipment upkeep and reliability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on commissioning and start-up.
Practical experience with chutes, screeners, and conveyor systems.
Strong aptitude for drafting technical specifications and managing vendor relationships.
Proficient in project management and bidding processes.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Effective communication abilities and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the steel sector, although those with backgrounds in oil & gas, chemicals, plastics, or other industrial fields are encouraged to apply.
Experience with upgrader and TAR projects in a comparable sector.Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools.
Work Environment:
Office setting with occasional site visits.
