Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and services within the assigned program or area to meet customer and division quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviews design drawings and changes, operation sheets, process procedures, test procedures, procurement documents, quality manuals, and inspection analyses to ensure compliance with division and customer quality requirements.
  • Supports the contract review process and interprets customer, material, or process specifications.
  • Performs internal audits and provides Quality support to the Engineering group with New Product Introduction (NPI) and analysis of nonconforming parts.
  • Interacts with the Customer Service Department to resolve customer issues and responds to customer Corrective Action Request (CAR) requests with effective process improvements.
  • Supports the Purchasing group with material procurement, special process, and approved supplier requirements.
  • Generates quality metrics and reviews quality trends to mitigate process risk and institute process improvements.
  • Measures and monitors supplier performance and performs Root Cause and Corrective Action using tools such as 8D and 5 Whys.
  • Leads and supports Quality Clinic activities and maintains Quality Records as required to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Implements new inspection tools and technology and supports continuous improvement projects.
  • Flows quality requirements to suppliers to prevent nonconforming product and works directly with suppliers to resolve and prevent nonconforming product issues.
Requirements:
  • Four-year degree (or 5 years of inspection experience) plus 2 to 3 years as a Quality Assurance Specialist or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control and lean principles.
  • Requires knowledge of the company quality system and contractual quality requirements.
  • Ability to validate inspections, interpret GD&T blueprints, and perform shop math (including trigonometry).
  • Capable with Microsoft Windows and Office.
  • Requires effective human relations skills to motivate others and convince them of the validity of solutions to problems.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Physical Requirements:
  • The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds frequently.
  • Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis.
