About the Foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization dedicated to combating poverty, disease, and inequality globally. Our mission is grounded in the belief that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy and productive life. We prioritize diversity within our workforce to reflect the global communities we serve. Our comprehensive benefits package includes extensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous paid time off, paid family leave, retirement contributions, regional holidays, and opportunities for community engagement.
The U.S. Program Team
The U.S. Program (USP) aims to provide equitable access to transformative opportunities, ensuring that race, ethnicity, and income do not dictate educational and economic success. Our educational initiatives focus on empowering all students, particularly those from Black, Latinx, and low-income backgrounds, to achieve degrees or credentials that lead to successful careers. We also strive to enhance collaboration among stakeholders to promote economic mobility. The USP concentrates on five essential areas:• Elevating early childhood education to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
• Assisting K-12 schools in enhancing student performance.
• Reforming colleges and universities to boost student success and close achievement gaps.
• Collaborating with partners to provide resources that address barriers to opportunity and develop strategies for economic mobility.
• In Washington State, improving tools and practices for educators, parents, and providers to ensure equitable opportunities for all students to realize their potential.
USP is committed to broadening access to life-changing opportunities, particularly for marginalized students. We recognize that education alone is insufficient; external factors significantly influence student success. Therefore, we support initiatives that foster a deeper understanding of economic mobility, creating sustainable pathways out of poverty for families and communities.
