About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team at the Fairfield/Mare Island VA Outpatient Clinics. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care, conduct medical history reviews, and develop treatment plans for patients with a wide range of mental disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct medical history reviews, physical exams, and mental status exams to assess patient needs
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and facilitation of medication support groups
  • Evaluate and provide medical clearance for patients presenting to the clinic who may need psychiatric hospitalization
  • Assess and intervene in crisis situations, providing timely and effective care to patients in need
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Residency training in psychiatry or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
