In this pivotal role, you will lead the security strategy, policy formulation, implementation, and operational management. You will oversee security and compliance initiatives and represent the organization in external security engagements. Your responsibilities will include defining, establishing, and managing your team while reporting directly to the CTO, ensuring visibility at the board and executive levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the security strategy encompassing all endpoints, servers, software, networks, and cloud infrastructures.
  • Assess, select, and implement security technologies and systems.
  • Develop the team: design, inspire, and manage.
  • Oversee risk management, including vulnerability assessments and incident response protocols.
  • Facilitate internal compliance initiatives (SOC2, ISO 27001, etc.).
  • Manage external compliance efforts (vendor security questionnaires, audit requests, etc.).
  • Provide executive representation during sales engagements.
  • Conduct contract reviews focusing on security and data privacy aspects.
  • Create and disseminate company-wide IT security policies and best practices, along with conducting internal training sessions.
Required Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in the broader security domain.
  • A minimum of 3 years in an InfoSec leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Substantial experience with on-premises systems.
  • Proficiency in authentication, authorization, VPNs, encryption, certificates, and associated best practices.
  • Familiarity with network connectivity principles, including IP address management, tunneling, L2/L3, firewalls, and IDS.
  • Experience with AWS and general cloud architecture.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability and security posture management.
  • Experience in incident management.
  • Competence in log analysis, event correlation, and incident management systems.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest in contributing to security-related product enhancements through feedback and collaboration with product management and sales teams.
  • Experience in a startup environment.
  • Basic scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience in cloud deployment and management.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Familiarity with federal security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in security program management, including budgeting and planning.
  • Experience in establishing and managing security-focused systems, including:
    • SSO/identity management systems.
    • Endpoint management software.
    • Credential management solutions.
    • Log analysis tools.
    • Vulnerability scanning software.
    • Incident management platforms.
    • Remote access solutions (SASE, VPN, etc.).
    • Cloud security posture management tools.
  • Relevant security certifications (Security+, CISSP, CEH, SANS, etc.).
The compensation range for this position is between $240,000 and $280,000, dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
