Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our team at Dillard's Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with the Buyer and vendors to analyze market trends and ensure our product offerings are on point.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in vendor selection and nurturing vendor partnerships to drive business growth and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry trends and assess competition to inform merchandise strategy and product selection.
  • Provide input for merchandise strategy and product selection to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Assist with setting up new merchandise in the item database to ensure accurate and up-to-date product information.
  • Develop sales unit performance reports to track and analyze sales data.
  • Coordinate and catalog merchandise samples to ensure timely and accurate product delivery.
  • Manage timely placement and maintenance of purchase orders to ensure efficient and effective supply chain management.
  • Contribute to the Retail Operating Forecast to inform business decisions and drive growth.
  • Assist in establishing pricing strategy to ensure competitive pricing and maximize revenue.
  • Execute markdown projections and provide data for vendor allowance negotiation to drive business growth and improve profitability.
  • Participate in planning and approving advertising and promotions to drive sales and revenue growth.
  • Analyze style advertising effectiveness to inform future marketing strategies.
  • Offer feedback for space strategies (fixture/square footage) to ensure optimal store layout and customer experience.
  • Participate in training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support a team environment and engage in team activities to foster collaboration and teamwork.
  • Foster job satisfaction and positive morale to drive employee engagement and retention.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Assistant Buyer, preferably in a major department store.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
