Job Summary

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture seeks a highly skilled Procurement Counselor to provide technical assistance, counseling, and training to businesses pursuing government contracting opportunities. As a key member of the APEX Accelerator team, you will serve as a resource for large and small businesses, helping them navigate the complexities of government procurement and acquisition processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist businesses in identifying potential contractual opportunities and obtaining or performing under contracts, innovation and technology grants, or other federally funded instruments.
  • Provide specialized assistance to clients, enabling them to develop and implement effective marketing strategies for government contracting.
  • Stay up-to-date on current federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to procurement policies, procedures, and decisions.
  • Research and analyze various databases to obtain information on government business opportunities.
  • Develop and present training workshops on government business topics, including procurement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with economic development, financial entities, and business advocacy groups.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, government contracting, or a closely related field, or a related Master's degree.
  • Three years of relevant professional work experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Previous APEX Accelerator or other small business program experience, or government contracting experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or contract manager.
