Job Opportunity

The Building People is seeking a highly skilled Interior Architect to join their team in a prominent federal agency in the Washington, DC area. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing complex solutions for planning, architectural, and interior designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in developing innovative solutions for planning, architectural, and interior designs
  • Plan, design, review, and coordinate complex engineering or design tasks in support of project accomplishment
  • Apply engineering skills and abilities to complete necessary calculations to determine feasibility or different design options
  • Provide space utilization planning, functional relationships, office and furniture layouts, and design finish options
  • Present data and plans to stakeholders through various communication channels

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in commercial interior design for tenant improvements, restacking, and interior build-out of new and existing spaces
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other construction documents
  • Ability to create architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other construction documents
  • Familiarity with commercial office furniture lines and working knowledge of casegoods and systems furniture specification
  • Working knowledge of space planning and interior design for commercial/government office space and selection of interior finishes and materials
  • Ability to interact with decision-makers and stakeholders, and to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Expertise with AutoCAD 2015 or higher and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and respond in quick time frames
  • Successful completion of the NCIDQ or NCARB certifications
  • Background in commercial or federal government office planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large commercial office space planning
  • Federal agency experience

Education:

  • A minimum of a BS/BA in architecture/interior design or a Masters in Architecture
