Position Title: Outreach & Engagement Specialist
Position Summary:
The Center for Alternative is seeking an Outreach & Engagement Specialist to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in developing and executing strategies to build relationships with diverse communities, organizations, and stakeholders. The primary goal is to enhance awareness of our mission, programs, and services while fostering collaborations that align with our objectives.
Our programs significantly influence the lives of numerous individuals each year by providing community-based supervision and support services. Participants come from various backgrounds, including youth, young adults, and individuals facing challenges such as substance use disorders and homelessness. The Outreach & Engagement Specialist will play a crucial role in motivating and empowering these individuals to harness their strengths and pursue positive changes in their lives.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000 annually.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid work model available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support supervision and case management efforts by collaborating with clinical coordinators and case managers. Provide outreach services in community settings, including participant homes and local venues.
- Build and maintain engaging relationships with individuals at risk of disengagement, working closely with community members to address their needs.
- Conduct outreach independently and with staff to identify participants and establish trustful relationships that promote compliance with supervision conditions.
- Respond promptly to requests from Case Coordinators for community outreach visits to reengage participants who have missed appointments.
- Act as a liaison between high-risk participants and supervision staff, fostering trustful relationships and addressing participant needs.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to assist participants in problem-solving and adhering to their mandated appointments.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the neighborhoods where participants reside, engaging with both formal and informal community resources.
- Advocate for participants, providing direct support while navigating social services.
- Participate in supervision, case analysis, and team meetings to enhance skills in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and outreach techniques.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of experience in community outreach, particularly with individuals facing mental health challenges or involved in the criminal justice system.
- Individuals with lived experience in the criminal justice system are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Comfortable working in various neighborhoods and outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions.
Preferred Skills:
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred.
