The Progressive Care Unit at our facility is designed to deliver personalized, high-quality nursing care to patients with medical-related conditions requiring an intermediate level of care. This unit caters to patients who are either transitioning from intensive care or those needing a higher level of care than what is provided in a general ward. Our 17-bed unit primarily consists of private rooms, ensuring a healing environment supported by specialized nursing staff.

Residency Program Expectations:

  • A dedicated success coach available around the clock.
  • Regular weekly check-ins to monitor personal and professional development.
  • Individual assessments to identify growth opportunities.
  • A comprehensive orientation lasting 10 to 12 weeks, supplemented by 10 residency days in the first year.

Student Loan Repayment Program:

Eligible for full-time nurses: up to $437.50 per month, with a lifetime maximum benefit of $15,750.

Eligible for part-time nurses: up to $218.75 per month, with a lifetime maximum benefit of $7,500.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established policies and protocols.
  • Prioritize patient care activities based on acuity, patient preferences, and resource availability.
  • Implement and maintain interventions to ensure continuity of safe and effective patient care.
  • Respond to health risks and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Seek guidance and support when necessary.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental personnel policies.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Document patient care in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN is preferred.

Certification Requirements:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required for those in the Emergency Department, either upon hire or within one year.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within the first year of employment.

Work Complexity:

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must handle stressful situations effectively.

Experience:

  • New graduates or RNs with less than one year of acute care experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Full range of motion, including lifting and handling patients.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
  • Ability to work under stress and during irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Medium work, requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds occasionally.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
