Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Early Childhood Development Instructor to join our team at Denmark Technical College. As an instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to our students, developing and maintaining course documentation, and providing students with a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Development: Develop and maintain course documentation, review and select textbooks for courses in the subject area, maintain audio-visual and/or other materials for courses taught through any medium, and be organized and well-prepared for class.
  • Teaching Performance: Provide students with a course syllabus, grading/attendance policy, and other relevant information in a timely manner, relate instructional practical examples and illustrations, pace the instruction over the semester, provide students with timely tests, and return test results in a timely manner.
  • Student Advisement: Maintain required office hours, publicize office hours and availability, refer students to other persons for appropriate assistance, maintain appropriate records, and meet with students in a timely manner.
  • College and/or Community Service: Assist with recruitment as required, assist with job/transfer placement or recommendations as required, cooperate with or participate in projects/activities of other instructional and support areas in fulfillment of the college's mission, and serve effectively on college/community committees.
  • Instructional Management: Submit reports in a timely manner, arrange the physical environment as much as possible for effective learning, adhere to class schedules, provide effective classroom/lab supervision, maintain accurate records, and provide disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Professional Development: Develop an annual professional development plan in conjunction with supervisor, attend courses/seminars/workshops as required or planned, write manuscripts or present papers at conferences, and conduct research projects in the subject field.
Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Early Childhood Development and Education, or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Early Childhood Development and Education.
  • Three (3) years of college-level teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education, especially teaching methodologies, knowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility, and knowledge of the college's mission, goals, and objectives.
