We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Bus Driver to join our team at Park County School District 6. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.
Key Responsibilities- Safely Operate a School Bus: Drive a school bus on designated routes in accordance with time schedules, loading and unloading students at designated locations.
- Transport Students and Staff: Transport students, teachers, and others on school field or activity trips.
- Inspect and Maintain the Bus: Inspect the assigned bus on a daily basis prior to transporting passengers to ensure it is in good, clean, and safe working order.
- Clean and Refuel the Bus: Clean and refuel the bus as needed.
- Ensure Communication Devices are in Working Order: Ensure that a communication device is in proper working order before each trip.
- Report Incidents and Deficiencies: Report all mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents promptly.
- Arrange for Routine Maintenance: Arrange for and ensure completion of routine maintenance of the bus (e.g., oil change); transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
- Maintain Order and Discipline: Maintain order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures; report any incidents involving student discipline.
- Track Route Timing and Efficiency: Observe and track route timing, such as total time en-route, time between stops, loading and unloading times, or any other requested information for the purpose of establishing route efficiency, as requested.
- Submit Records and Reports: Maintain and submit records and reports as required.
- Ensure Child Safety: Follow procedures to ensure that no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed the bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening, and during field trips or other special trips).
- Inventory Emergency Supplies: Inventory bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment; report needs to the Director.
- Prepare for Bus Drills: Prepare aides and children for bus drills and ensure bus evacuation drills are held as required.
- Respond to Emergencies: In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuate children according to written and practiced procedures, ensure that medical emergency procedures are followed; complete a written report as required.
- Attend Trainings and Development Opportunities: Attend and participate in trainings, and other continuing education, career, and professional development opportunities.
- Certification/License: Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License and Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Successful prior experience working as a bus driver, preferably in a school district or transporting children.
