Job Title: Nurse Manager of Resident Services

Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager of Resident Services is responsible for providing nursing management, establishing resident care standards, and supervising personal care. This role ensures the general well-being of residents through the delivery of quality services consistent with applicable state laws and regulations. This is an on-call position.

Key Responsibilities:

  3. Promote and support a resident-centered care environment that ensures the treatment of all residents, family members, visitors, fellow employees, and customers with kindness, respect, and dignity.
  4. Adhere to all facility and department work rules, policies, and procedures.
  5. Set resident care standards to provide high-quality care to residents.
  6. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the nursing department.
  7. Supervise and manage all aspects of the nursing department.
  8. Assess, direct, and supervise residents' care needs. Coordinate with the medical director and practitioners.
  9. Cooperate with administration to ensure efficient, cost-effective operation of the facility.
  10. Train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff to ensure the provision of high-quality services to residents in a manner consistent with the philosophy of personal care.
  11. Plan and delegate work schedule assignments. Oversee the scheduling of the nursing department. This includes being on call to ensure there is adequate staff in the building to provide quality care at all times.
  12. Facilitate and encourage family involvement with residents.
  13. Coordinate move-in and orient new residents to the facility, ensuring satisfactory integration into the facility.
  14. Investigate resident and employee incidents, identify safety hazards, and institute corrective action in a timely manner. Share in the responsibility for providing and maintaining an environment that is conducive to the safety and physical and emotional well-being of residents and personnel.
  15. Monitor resident services plans, record information to determine the quality of service to residents, and direct staff to implement needed change.
  16. Participate in conferences with the management team and initiate meetings with resident aides and other staff as needed.
  17. Orient new staff. Develop in-service training and provide ongoing training of staff to provide high-quality service consistent with the philosophy of personal care.
  18. Promote and facilitate interactive problem-solving with staff.
  19. Coordinate move-out, ensuring proper labeling and packing of residents' belongings, if necessary.
  20. May complete resident assessments and support plans.
  21. Plan, attend, and monitor monthly staff meetings as scheduled.
  22. Attend monthly resident council meetings and follow up on issues as necessary.
  23. Continue to expand knowledge through attending educational seminars.
  24. Maintain standards of care through quality assurance monitoring.
  25. Provide direct supervision of hourly employees and their adherence to all VCS policies and procedures and department standards and guidelines.
  26. Coach and discipline employees as appropriate and in partnership with the People Operations and Engagement Specialist while enforcing all policies and procedures.
  27. Complete all necessary entries and approvals relating to biweekly payroll without delaying the payroll process.
  28. Complete all necessary entries and approvals relating to accounts payable, ensuring that all invoices are paid in a timely manner and that the department is within its budget.
  29. Contribute to the relevant and timely performance feedback to employees through the performance review process.
  30. Conduct department orientation, training, and coaching of all new employees.
  31. Collaborate with People Operations in areas including recruitment, orientation, training, staff development, performance evaluation, disciplinary action, and policies and procedures.
  32. Perform all other duties assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Current licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in good standing is required.
  2. Current CPR certification is required.
  3. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  4. Candidate must have professional nursing experience in a long-term care environment, including 2 years in a supervisory or administrative capacity preferred.

Work Environment:

Employees of a long-term care facility work in a resident care environment that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Employees can be expected to be exposed to unpleasant odors and may encounter physically or verbally aggressive residents.

Working conditions include normal indoor temperatures. There may also be times when employees perform duties outdoors. Depending on the season, outdoor temperatures will vary.

Employees may come into contact with residents who have infectious diseases or resident bodily fluids or blood. In addition, employees may come into contact with hazardous materials and facility equipment.
