Business Banker Job Description

The Business Banker is a key role at Pacific Premier Bank, responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with business customers. This position requires a strong understanding of business banking products and services, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prospect for new business opportunities through lead generation and cold calling.
  • Meet with business owners and senior executives to review and analyze their current business banking situation.
  • Analyze customer loan and deposit needs and make recommendations.
  • Cross-sell business products and services to existing customers.
  • Effectively gather financial information and move loans through the system from inquiry to closing.
  • Monitor and manage existing portfolio to ensure client needs are being met.
  • Maintain and expand existing loan and deposit relationships with customers.
  • Build long-lasting relationships with customers.
  • Practice exemplary security and loss prevention skills to ensure the bank knows its customers and account information is processed through approved screening and verification services.
  • Process special handling requests for customers within reason and bank policy.
  • Manage an effective follow-up system.
  • Generate correspondence (with managerial approval) in a professional manner where necessary.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in sales in banking or lending required.
  • Retail sales and service experience, including cash handling preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4-year college program (BA Degree) or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a 4-year college program (BA Degree).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base salary or pay for this position is $24.53/hr. to $36.79/hr. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. A business line incentive may be provided ranging from 0% - 1% per loan and 0%-2% per deposit, in addition to medical and other benefits, dependent on the position.
