POSITION SUMMARY:
The Consult Liaison Psychiatrist plays a vital role in delivering psychiatric consultations to emergency departments and inpatient units for individuals experiencing primary psychiatric disorders or those with psychiatric comorbidities. This role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, including advanced practice clinicians, to assess and stabilize patients in acute psychiatric distress.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide psychiatric consultations for patients in emergency and inpatient settings.
- Collaborate with medical teams to formulate comprehensive care plans.
- Conduct risk assessments and manage treatment for high-risk patients.
- Engage in telehealth and in-person consultations based on patient needs.
- Assist in the development of new service lines, including Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT).
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time clinical position, primarily Monday through Friday, with standard working hours. Flexibility may be required for after-hours care, particularly for ECT services.
CALL EXPECTATIONS:
There is no formal on-call requirement for this position, although voluntary coverage may be needed in certain circumstances.
LOCATION:
The primary work locations will be within the St. Charles Health System network.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Oregon medical license as MD/DO.
- Board certification in Psychiatry.
- Experience in consult liaison psychiatry preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
