Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist the physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and physician access.
  • Function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Summit Health policy.
  • Collect lab specimens according to departmental guidelines. Accurately label specimens.
  • Prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
  • Ensure proper preparation for patient visits. Prepare pertinent information needed for patient visits.
  • Effectively communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager appropriately and promptly.
  • Assure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.

  • Employ appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
Obtains Vital Signs:
  • BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required. Document appropriately in EHR.
  • Administer injections according to appropriate protocol. Document injections accurately in EHR.
  • Appropriately demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document in EHR.
  • Schedule appointments appropriately and accurately according to department guidelines.
  • Adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.
  • Review and update medication lists in EHR. Demonstrate understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures. Accurately and completely document known allergies in EHR.
  • Enter orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
  • Provide referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
  • Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
  • Facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
  • Maintain proficiency with department-specific equipment. Troubleshoot and report malfunctions promptly.
  • Manage Central Line Catheters such as Port-a-Cath and PICC lines.
  • Provide care according to the individualized needs of the patient using the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Chemotherapy Infusion and Urology Department ONLY:
  • Support and cross-train RN Navigation/Triage.
  • Responsible for administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antibiotics, symptom management, and patient education, including coordination of patient care activities with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Handle and administer hazardous drugs compliant with USP 797/800 standards.
Education, Certification, Computer, and Training Requirements:
  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Oregon State Nursing License and BLS certification required.
  • 0-1 year's experience. 2-4 years experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window-based environment preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR, Practice Management System, and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
