POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Educator (CE) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the healthcare practices of learners by utilizing specialized tools, theories, and skills.

The CE is responsible for developing, coordinating, and providing educational support tailored to specific service line areas, adapting as the organization evolves.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To excel in this position, the CE must effectively manage the following essential duties:

  • Learning Facilitator: The CE identifies knowledge and skill gaps through needs assessments and develops educational materials and action plans to facilitate learner success.
  • Change Agent: The CE drives positive transformation within processes, inspiring and guiding teams through change management and improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor: The CE fosters professional growth by supporting the development of others and encouraging lifelong learning across various settings.
  • Leader: The CE influences inter-professional practices and educational environments, contributing to the advancement of nursing and healthcare.
  • Champion for Inquiry: The CE advocates for the generation and sharing of new knowledge, utilizing evidence to enhance nursing practices and patient care.
  • Advocate for Professional Development: The CE promotes nursing professional development as a critical specialty within the field.
  • Partner for Transition: The CE aids healthcare professionals in navigating transitions across different roles and environments.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
The CE is accountable for various performance metrics, including:

  • Orientation and Onboarding: The CE oversees the onboarding process, ensuring new hires are effectively integrated into the organization.
  • Competency Management: The CE manages ongoing assessments and evaluations to support curriculum development and performance documentation.
  • Educational Design: The CE creates educational initiatives to address practice gaps for targeted audiences, including patient education and continuing nursing education.
  • Professional Role Development: The CE assists individuals in their professional growth and role transitions, promoting continuous learning.
  • Research and Quality Improvement: The CE engages in research and quality improvement initiatives, promoting evidence-based practices in patient care.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: The CE collaborates with various stakeholders to share expertise and achieve desired outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred, with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required to begin. A Bachelor's Degree (BSN) must be obtained within two years of starting the position.
Five years of clinical nursing experience is required, with prior experience as a preceptor preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Current RN license is mandatory, along with Basic Life Support (CPR) certification, which must be maintained continuously. Additional certifications in advanced specialty courses may be required based on service line needs.
