Role: Phlebotomist at St. Francis Cancer Center
Job Responsibilities:
The Laboratory Department is in search of a skilled Phlebotomist to become part of our expanding team. The Phlebotomist will be tasked with collecting high-quality blood samples from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory analysis, and performing clerical tasks efficiently to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Key responsibilities include order entry, result retrieval, report generation, and responding to internal and external inquiries in a courteous and supportive manner.
Key Duties:
- Deliver exceptional customer service by welcoming patients and the community with respect
- Accurately collect specimens following established protocols and ensure proper processing
- Ensure patient safety by correctly identifying patients and matching them with the appropriate services
- Handle data entry and specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as per test orders
- Perform clerical tasks related to the department, such as inventory checks, supply stocking, and phone answering as required
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Phlebotomist Certification is preferred but not mandatory
- Preferred one year of phlebotomy experience, but not required
- Customer service experience in a retail or service setting is preferred
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Engage professionally with staff and patients
- Position may require travel to off-site locations
