Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Prisma Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of disease by conducting laboratory testing and ensuring the accuracy and precision of all aspects of laboratory testing.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory testing to aid in diagnosis and treatment of disease
- Ensure proficiency and accuracy in all aspects of laboratory testing
- Follow established policies and procedures
- Perform and report test results for waived, moderate, and high complexity clinical laboratory procedures
- Escalate discrepancies to appropriate individual
- Operate computerized laboratory data systems/applications
- Review pending work using established protocol
- Assure proper retention of all specimens
- Verify identification of patient, specimen, and results
- Evaluate specimen integrity based on department standard operating procedures
- Participate in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Management (QM) for area assigned
- Investigate and resolve technical problems
- Perform and document maintenance and function/operational checks on instrumentation
- Comply with Policies and Procedures of Prisma Health
- Support Prisma Health system and campus financial, customer service, and quality initiatives
- Employs good organizational talents and prioritizes tasks appropriately
- Recognizes customer satisfaction issues and responds/escalates appropriately
- Assumes responsibility for operation of the section in absence of supervisor/lead technologist
- Instructs students, new team members, laboratory support staff, and hospital personnel in procedure, technique, and theory
- Associate's Degree in a laboratory science or medical technology
- Past eligibility for MLT (ASCP) prior to 2004 or current eligibility for MLT (ASCP)cm or MLT (AMT)
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of laboratory and office equipment (fax/copier)
- Data entry
- Mathematical skills
- Effective at Data Conversion
