Job Title: Assistant Center Director of Operations

Job Summary:

The Assistant Center Director of Operations is a key member of the leadership team at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Hawaii. This role is responsible for assisting the Center Director in leading the daily operations of the center, with a focus on hospitality and member services, facility upkeep, food and beverage services, rentals and special events, contracts, corporate compliance, risk management, and other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Center Director in leading the daily operations of the center
  • Oversee hospitality and member services, facility upkeep, food and beverage services, rentals and special events, contracts, corporate compliance, risk management, and other duties as assigned
  • Directly supervise the Facility Manager, Kitchen Manager, Café Manager, Sales & Events Manager, Member Services Manager, and Operations Coordinator
  • Develop and review operational goals and budgets to ensure alignment with the center's mission and objectives
  • Provide guidance and training to managers and staff on operational procedures and best practices
  • Collaborate with the Center Director and other leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives and projects
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies
  • Represent the center in the community and build relationships with stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Engineering, or related field
  • 5-10 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a business, program, or corps setting
  • Experience in coaching and motivating management-level teams and proven leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and administer facility and department budgets
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong motivational, management, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure
  • Ability to take projects from beginning to completion
  • Self-discipline to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and work in a team setting with other professionals

Physical Demands:

The position requires a high degree of energy, physical fitness, and endurance. Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting heavy weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Communication Demands:

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, and vendors; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.

Work Environment:

Extended workdays are a frequent occurrence, as are weekends and holidays as needed to support the business. Most work will be at The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Hawaii. There will also be times where this employee will be outdoors and travel to other TSA sites or off-campus. Attendance at trainings and conferences, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, is required. Extensive travel is possible, including air travel, driving long distances, night driving, overnight travel, and extended travel of five days or more.
