Job Title: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our team at the University of Miami. As an APRN, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and collaborating with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient outcomes.

Job Summary:

The APRN will be responsible for examining and treating patients independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. You will ensure proper illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Additionally, you will perform lumbar punctures and other diagnostic procedures as per established division protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients by interviewing/examining the patient, reviewing medical history, physician's diagnosis, and orders, diagnostic test results to determine medical diagnosis, plan of care, and monitor patient's progress.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary physicians through discussion and assessment of diagnoses.
  • Develop a plan of care from assessment/diagnoses and physician collaboration.
  • Identify expected outcomes based on assessment/diagnoses and physician collaboration.
  • Provide patient/family education regarding disease processes, treatment options, treatment outcomes, possible complications, medications, discharge planning, and lifestyle modification.
  • Ensure ordering and scheduling of all procedures required to assess adverse events and disease response.
  • Communicate plan of care to team members.
  • Assist in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care.
  • Evaluate patient's progress in attaining expected outcomes by follow-up with collaborating physician and staff.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing (open to Family and Adult NPs)
  • Valid State of Florida APRN License
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Proven experience in Oncology or Neuro Oncology is highly recommended.
