We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PostgreSQL database administrator to join our client's dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in PostgreSQL database management and administration, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and end clients. This role requires a proactive approach to driving support requirements and implementing database solutions that enhance performance and reliability.

  • Administer, maintain and optimize PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues, providing timely resolutions.
  • Conduct database design and architecture discussions, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop and implement database security measures to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Stay updated with the latest PostgreSQL features and best practices and apply them to enhance database performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client database-related inquiries, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their database needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to clients, illustrating database performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with development teams to assist in database design, coding and application support.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior DBAs and other team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Leverage knowledge of AlloyDB to enhance cloud-based database solutions and optimize performance.
  • Assist in the migration of existing PostgreSQL databases to AlloyDB/Cloud SQL.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, with a proven track record in database administration and management.
  • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming languages.
  • Experience with database replication, clustering and high-availability solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
