Job Summary

StarCare Specialty Health System is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Psychiatric Specialist to join its esteemed Forensics Team. As a key member of the Psychiatric Care Team at the Lubbock County Detention Center, the successful candidate will provide primary psychiatric care to an identified caseload of inmates who qualify for StarCare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams, AIMS Inventories, and laboratory tests, to provide quality medical care for clients.
  • Provide primary psychiatric care as part of the Psychiatric Care Team at the Lubbock County Detention Center for a select population of inmates.
  • Collaborate with a variety of agencies and professionals to provide the best care possible to assigned inmates, including regular treatment teams, one-on-one appointments, and departmental collaborative meetings.
  • Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner, including notes, contact notes, medication consents, and any other related documentation.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program or physician assistant program.
  • Recognized by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant License.
  • Board Certified by an agency approved by the American Nurses Association.
  • Full-time experience as a practicing PA in a recognized public health agency, detention center, hospital, or healthcare facility.
  • Psychiatric experience is preferred.
