Job Summary:

The Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic II to join our Facilities team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the mechanical systems that support our mission of improving health and advancing knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and Maintain Equipment: Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of equipment and systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Troubleshoot and Repair Systems: Troubleshoot and repair minor system malfunctions independently, and train junior mechanics in inspection procedures.
  • Perform Repairs and Replacements: Perform repairs and replacements on various systems, including fan and pump motors, plumbing fixtures, pneumatic controllers, and refrigeration devices.
  • Execute Small Projects: Execute small projects such as installing air and vacuum system piping and repairing plumbing systems.
  • Diagnose and Correct Equipment Malfunctions: Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions, and complete preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment.
  • Safely Shutdown Systems: Safely shutdown heating and cooling systems for maintenance or repair.
  • Utilize Skills: Utilize skills such as brazing, soldering, pipe cutting and threading, and various hand and power tools.
  • Repair and Overhaul Pumps and Heat Exchangers: Repair and overhaul pumps and heat exchangers.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a facilities maintenance mechanic role, preferably in healthcare or educational institutions.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
