Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Command Center Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for executing all aspects of bed management and transfer center operations in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, direct, and coordinate transfers and admissions from physician offices, hospitals, and other healthcare settings to the most appropriate accepting service, facility, and level of care.
  • Facilitate patient placement by assessing patient diagnosis, acuity, and location, applicable risk factors, and unit criteria/bed availability.
  • Collaborate with facility departments, medical staff, nursing staff, and leadership to promote appropriate, timely patient placement, and identify and communicate bed capacity issues.
  • Leverage capacity dashboards and other real-time indicators to predict future patient placement pressure points and participate in the execution of surge-capacity protocols.
  • Assist with all aspects of patient logistics, including pre-registration, transportation, and bed planning, and collect unit-specific data and information needed to access and place patients appropriately.
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance with all Command Center operations, including Stark, EMTALA, and other pertinent regulations.
  • Provide timely and accurate transfer and admission documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with providers and key stakeholders to develop and maintain transfer and admission pathways for patients.
  • Delegate tasks as needed to the Transfer Center Tech and EMS Liaison.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare and abide by service behavior standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
  • Minimum 5 years RN experience in either ED, ICU, and/or 5 years acute care inpatient nursing.
  • Critical Care or ED background is preferred.
