The City of Clayton is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Parks and Recreation Department as an Assistant Fitness Supervisor. This role will assist the Fitness Supervisor in the management of the fitness department at The Center of Clayton, a shared usage recreational facility for the City of Clayton and the Clayton School District.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the supervision of part-time staff, including fitness coordinators, personal trainers, group fitness and specialty instructors, fitness center staff, youth activity center staff, and childcare attendants.
- Contribute to the planning, coordination, marketing, and evaluation of personal training, group fitness, and all programs for the department.
- Ensure the quality of fitness staff by recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling employees.
- Interpret, implement, and enforce City, Center, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum one year of work experience in fitness center management and/or programming.
- Must obtain fitness certification by a national certifying agency or ability to attain within six months of employment; ACSM, ACE, or AFAA certification preferred.
- Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and First Aid required within three months of employment.
